ESL Tutor, UTalk Philippines; January 2020 — Present
To have found this company a few months before the pandemic hit the country was
truly a blessing for me and my family. For the first few months, the company only
catered audio classes then eventually transitioned to video classes which led to
more students, more bookings. I used to work for 6 days a week, from 1 p.m. -10 p.m..
Due to the imposition of the Double Reduction Policy in China, the company had to
lessen the teaching hours to 5 hours a day only.
ESL Tutor, 51Talk English Int’l. Ltd.; March 2016 — November 2019
I was a home-based online tutor for Chinese learners. I worked from Mondays to
Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.. My slots were always fully-booked on weekends and
peak hours. On weekdays, I had 15-18 students. This is my first teaching job and I
am surprised to find it very fulfilling. I can say that I am a good educator because I
take full responsibility for my students’ learning. I make sure that the class they get is
worth what they have paid for or even more.
